NEVO – AMS RMX 16

The Iconic Gated Reverb of the 1980s
The AMS RMX 16 helped define the legendary drum sound of the 1980s. Its famous NonLin 2 gated reverb was used on countless records — most famously in Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight.” Thanks to its unique tone, this reverb became a go-to for snares, toms, and room ambience. It was used across genres, from rock to synth-pop, and played a key role in shaping the sound of an entire era. Today, it remains one of the most in-demand digital reverbs in music production. This IR collection includes both gated and reverse reverb styles. All impulse responses were faithfully captured from the original unit, right here at Nevo Studios. Now, you can add the unmistakable sound of the AMS RMX 16 to your own productions — in studio-quality IR format.

NEVO – AKG BX15

In the early 1980s, AKG developed one of the most iconic stereo spring reverbs ever made. Built on the Torsional Transmission Line principle (TTL), this unique technology gave the BX series its rich texture and instantly recognizable sound. At Nevo Studios, we primarily use the BX15 on piano and grand piano, where it adds warmth and depth. Additionally, it performs beautifully on electric guitar, bringing a vibrant and organic feel. Despite that, the BX15 also shines on a wide range of sources — including drums, percussion, and more — making it a highly versatile reverb tool for any mix.

Why do our reverbs sound the way they sound?

First of all, we are a well-reputed recording and mixing studio based in Sweden. Our gear is always in perfect condition. Moreover, every decision we make is based on careful listening and over 20 years of experience. In addition, all work is done in a fully controlled acoustic environment with precise ATC monitoring.

We know that reverb plugins in a DAW never sound exactly like real analog or digital hardware reverbs, especially when used through an analog console. Therefore, we aim to make our impulse responses (IRs) sound as close as possible to our original hardware reverbs.

To achieve this, we have invested significant time and effort in creating countless IRs. Furthermore, we always test them by running them back through our analog console during mixing. As a result, we can ensure that each impulse response matches the true tone, depth, and character of the real unit.

Unlike others, we don’t travel to different studios or rely on external files. Instead, we capture every IR here at Nevo Studios, using the same signal chain as in our analog mixes. Finally, if it sounds good enough for us, we believe it will sound good enough for you too.
