Hi-Gain Cab Impulse Responses – Crafted for Modern Metal Production
At Nevo Studios, we set out to create the ultimate collection of high-gain cabinet impulse responses (IRs) for today’s metal producers and guitarists. This High-Gain Cabinet IR Pack was built from the ground up with one clear goal — to capture the full impact, clarity, and aggression of a perfectly recorded metal guitar tone. As a result, every IR delivers precision, power, and mix-ready character.
Built on Real Cabinets, Real Mics, Real Hardware
The collection includes 42 impulse responses recorded from six legendary guitar cabinets, each paired with several microphones and mic positions. Because of this, every IR offers its own balance of punch, midrange focus, and low-end control.
All recordings ran through our Amek/Neve analog console, using a pristine signal path and monitored through ATC reference systems. Therefore, phase accuracy and tonal consistency were guaranteed from start to finish. We used microphones that have defined modern metal recording — for example, the Shure SM57 and Sennheiser MD421 — along with hand-picked condensers and ribbons. In addition, each mic was positioned carefully to capture the most musical part of each cabinet’s sound.
Designed for Layering and Mix Balance
Each cabinet was tested extensively for multi-track rhythm compatibility. In other words, you can stack multiple IRs in a dense mix without losing clarity or punch. Moreover, this makes the collection equally powerful in studio productions, live rigs, and digital amp platforms such as Kemper, ToneX, Neural DSP, or Helix.
Whether you want tight modern tones, thick thrash aggression, or percussive djent clarity, these IRs provide the flexibility to shape your sound quickly. Furthermore, each IR was balanced for consistent loudness and spectral accuracy, so you can audition and mix without endless tweaking.
Captured at Nevo Studios with Precision and Passion
All cabinet sessions took place in Studio A at Nevo Studios. During recording, we combined precise mic alignment with natural room interaction for authentic realism. Every capture was checked for phase coherence, frequency accuracy, and dynamic integrity. Consequently, what you hear in these impulse responses is exactly what left our speakers — no post-EQ, no artificial enhancement, just pure analog tone.
